The Big Pedal 2017

The Big Pedal is the UK’s biggest inter-school cycling and scooting contest that challenges and inspires pupils, staff and parents to choose two wheels (or three) for their journey to school.

The 2017 challenge will run from 20 to 31 March and is open to specific classes as well as whole schools.

Every day schools across the country will compete to see who can record the highest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling or scooting to school. A school’s top five days will determine their final place on the leader board, but they can log journeys on all ten days if they would like.

For schools unable to take part in the main event, we also have a day version, which can include cycling and scooting initiatives in the school day as well as on the journey to school.

Alongside the national ‘Big Pedal’ event the Waltham Forest Road Safety Team will be running extra local competitions with the chance to win even more prizes.

Every day, schools will be entered into prize draws - if over 15% of the school have cycled or scooted into school that day. Rewards include bike and scooter stunt shows, equipment and storage.
