Comparison of vehicle numbers before and after the scheme and during the trial

The tables below show a comparison of average daily vehicle numbers from 12 roads within the Walthamstow Village area as set out in the February 2015 Cabinet report on the scheme, which can be found here.

  • Table 1 shows the change in vehicle numbers before and during the original trial road closures
  • Table 2 shows the change in vehicle numbers before and after the changes, based on the recent surveys that took place in early July 2016

The figures are the average number of vehicles recorded each day over the survey period. An average day is from midnight to midnight. The figures do not include the number of cycles.

While this comparison is only initial and does not represent all roads in the area, it does suggest that the overall volume of traffic in the Village area has been cut by about half, meeting one of the key objectives of the scheme. We are currently undertaking a more detailed analysis of all the data we have collected, including the impact on the main road network. Over the next couple of months we will be putting more detailed information about traffic and cycle numbers online on this page.
