Update 16.10.17 -

Blackhorse Road junction to Palmerston Road junction

Road resurfacing on Forest Road between Chatham Road and Palmerston Road, starting 23 October

We will be carrying out road resurfacing work on Forest Road between Chatham Road and Palmerston Road from Monday 23 October. The work is expected to take three days, weather dependent.  For further information, please see the attached letter recently sent to residents - please click here.

Update 12.10.17 -

Palmerston Road junction to Hoe Street -  work between Gaywood Road and Ruby Road

Works have commenced on the southern side of Forest Road, between Hoe Street and Gaywood Road. These works involve repaving the footway, altering the kerb line and adjusting services (hatch covers etc). Within the next two weeks, works are expected to progress towards the west onto the section between Gaywood Road and Ruby Road.

Update 04.07.17 -

Road resurfacing on Forest Road between King Edward Road and Wellington Road (starting 17 July)

We will be carrying out daytime road resurfacing on Forest Road E17 between Chatham Road and King Edward Road, starting Monday 17 July. These works should take three days to complete, weather permitting.  Each day during the working hours (9.00am – 5.00pm) traffic will be maintained on Forest Road by temporary 2-way traffic signals and the following side roads will be temporarily closed at their junctions with Forest Road - King Edward Road, Century Road, Chatham Road and Hervey Park Road. During this time, please use alternate streets for property access. Please note Hervey Park Road will be accessible via Walpole Road (and modal filter) during working hours.  For further information, and to view the letter, please click here.

Kind Edward Road junction with Forest Road

A letter has been sent out to local residents and businesses advising of a temporary road closure at this location, starting Monday 08 May. This is to allow a new blended 'Copenhagen' crossings to be built. To view a copy of the letter, please click here

The following works are still taking place:

Forest Road between Pretoria Avenue and Ritchings Avenue

Works are still continuing on building the new pavement and kerbs at this location.  This is part of our plans to introduce a mixture of fully protected and semi-protected cycle lanes in both directions on Forest Road. We want to encourage more people to cycle on this road by increasing safety and removing any conflict between cars.

Some pedestrian detours may be required during the work – please follow signage during this time.

The following works have now been completed:

  • Construction of the blended 'Copenhagen' crossings across Pretoria Avenue.
  • Forest Road carriageway resurfacing between Pembar Avenue and Farnborough Avenue

The following works are starting soon:

Pretoria Avenue junction with Forest Road

Works will be starting soon on building a blended 'Copenhagen' crossings at this location. This is to help make, walking and cycling in the borough, easy, safe and enjoyable. Whilst works are taking place there will be parking and loading restrictions to allow works to take place and vehicles to pass.

Forest Road between Pretoria Avenue and Ritchings Avenue

Kind Edward Road junction with Forest Road

Works will be starting soon on building a blended 'Copenhagen' crossings at this location. This is to help make, walking and cycling in the borough, easy, safe and enjoyable. Whilst works are taking place there will be parking and loading restrictions to allow works to take place and vehicles to pass. Resident access will be maintained as only half of the junction will be worked on, leaving the other half for cars to pass. Once complete, work will begin on the other half of the junction. Pedestrians will still have access to the pavement.

Forest Road between Pembar Avenue and Farnborough Road 

Starting soon, we will be resurfacing the road between these two roads. There will be no traffic impacts as the road will be kept open whilst works are taking place. Please look at for any signs advising of works.

Pedestrians will still be able use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

The following works have been completed:

  • Construction of the new pavement and kerbs on the northern side of Forest Road between Blackhorse Lane and Farnborough Avenue have now been completed
  • The new blended "Copenhagen" Crossing across Pembar Avenue has been completed
  • Road resurfacing between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue has now finished
  • Construction of the new pavement and kerbs on the southern side of Forest Road between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue have now been completed.

Forest Road between between Farnborough Avenue and King Edward Road

Work is about to start on the new pavement and kerb works at this location on the northern side of Forest Road. This is part of our plans to introduce a mixture of fully protected and semi-protected cycle lanes in both directions on Forest Road. We want to encourage more people to cycle on this road by increasing safety and removing any conflict between cars and cycles. Pedestrians will still be able use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

Farnborough Avenue junction with Forest Road

Work will start on the 06 March to build the new blended "Copenhagen" Crossing at this junction. The junction will be closed between 6 March for the duration of works until the 20 March. Please use Tavistock Avenue as an alternative access point. Please be advised that there may be parking and loading restrictions near this location whilst works are taking place. Please look out for signs advising of any restrictions and diversions. Whilst works are taking place, we are asking drivers to park in neighbouring roads to ensure the works are completed on time.

The following works have now been completed:

Forest Road between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue  

Work has now finished on building the new pavements and kerbs at this location on the southern side of Forest Road. This is part of our plans to introduce a mixture of fully protected and semi-protected cycle lanes in both directions on Forest Road. We want to encourage more people to cycle on this road by increasing safety and removing any conflict between cars and cycles. Pedestrians will still be able use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

Pembar Avenue junction with Forest Road

Work has now finished on building the new blended "Copenhagen" Crossing at this location, making it safer and easier for pedestrians and cyclists.

Forest Road between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue

All works have now been finished, including the resurfacing of Forest Road at this location. All temporary traffic management measures have now been lifted including any parking and loading restrictions. This work forms part of the overall scheme to provide cycle lanes on either side of Forest Road. Pedestrians will still access during the works.

Pembar Avenue and Farnbourough Avenue

Work has started and is progressing on the new pavement and kerbs being build on the northern side of Forest Road. This is part of our plans to introduce a mixture of fully protected and semi-protected cycle lanes in both directions on Forest Road. We want to encourage more people to cycle on this road by increasing safety and removing any conflict between cars and cycles. Pedestrians will still be able use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue

Monday 13 February, road resurfacing will begin and last approximately 5 days until 17 February. Whilst works are ongoing, Forest Road eastbound traffic between the hours of 09:00-16:00 will be diverted via Blackhorse Lane, Billet Road and Chingford Road.

Forest Road westbound traffic will still have access to resident homes and local businesses when works are taking place. We are asking all residents and businesses not to park or unload near or in the area, to ensure the works are not delayed and are finished as quickly as possible. Resident parking will be available in neighbouring roads. Our contractor will try to minimise any disruption and noise. No work will take place outside the hours of 09:00-16:00.

Parking and loading provisions have been suspended between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue whilst resurfacing is taking place. We are asking residents and businesses to park and load in neighbouring roads.

No parking or loading is permitted on the carriageway between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue during road resurfacing works.

This work forms part of the overall scheme to provide cycle lanes on either side of Forest Road. Pedestrians will still access during the works.

Works starting soon:

Forest Road between Farnborough Avenue and King Edward Road 

Work will start soon on building the new pavement and kerbs on the northern side of Forest Road between these two roads. This is part of our plans to introduce a mixture of fully protected and semi-protected cycle lanes in both directions on Forest Road. We want to encourage more people to cycle on this road by increasing safety and removing any conflict between cars and cycles. Pedestrians will still be able use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

The following works are now taking place:


Forest Road and Pembar Avenue Junction

Construction of the blended Copenhagen Crossing is nearly finished and will re-open by 6 February. The road will be closed until then to all traffic. Residents can still access their properties using neighbouring roads such as Farnborough Avenue and pedestrians will still be able to use the pavement during the construction of the new crossing.

Forest Road between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue (southern side)

Work has started on the pavements and kerbs on the southern side of Forest Road. This is part of our plans to introduce a mixture of fully protected and semi-protected cycle lanes in both directions on Forest Road. We want to encourage more people to cycle on this road by increasing safety and removing any conflict between cars and cycles. Pedestrians will still be able use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

The pavement and kerb works are now complete on the northern side of Forest Road between Blackhorse Lane and Pembar Avenue. We are building cycling lanes on either side of Forest Road, to provide a safer place for cyclists.

Forest Road between Blackhorse Road and Pembar Avenue:

As part of this scheme we are planning to build cycle lanes on either side of Forest Road. The reconstruction of the pavement and kerbs are still taking place on the northern side of the road  All works should be completed by 30 January. Pedestrians will still have access whilst works are ongoing.

 

Forest Road and Pembar Avenue Junciton

  • Works have started on the construction of the blended ‘Copenhagen’ crossing and will take several weeks to complete. The road will be closed to all traffic whilst works are ongoing, residents can still access their properties using neighbouring roads such as Farnborough Avenue.  All works should be completed by 30 January
  • Pedestrians will still be able to use the pavement whilst works are ongoing.

The following works has begun on Forest Road between Blackhorse Road and Pembar Avenue:

  • The northern side of the pavement is being reconstructed with new kerbs being installed. Once this is completed, works will start on the opposite pavement. This work forms part of the overall scheme to provide segregated cycle lanes on either side of Forest Road
  • Pedestrians can still use the pavement whilst works are on-going
  • Drivers will still be able to use the road. At certain times, signs advising drivers of temporary restrictions maybe in place to ensure all works are completed safely and on time.

Forest Road - Wetlands section of works

  • The Ferry Boat Inn bridge renovation and westbound segregated cycle lane towards Haringey is now complete
  • Construction has started on the eastbound segregated cycle lane heading towards Blackhorse Road and will continue until mid October 2016
  • Work to install the new pedestrian crossing will start in October 2016.

Forest Road - Wetlands section of works

  • The westbound segregated cycle lane towards Haringey is almost complete
  • Construction of the eastbound segregated cycle lane towards Blackhorse Road will start in August 2016.
